Dr. Shapshay, MD

Dr. Shapshay’s clinical interests include laryngology and the management of airway disease.  Research interests include the application of new laser and laser delivery systems in the treatment of laryngological disorders.  In addition to general otolaryngology, he will be seeing patients in a joint Voice Clinic with Dr. Galati, employing the latest videostrobe technology. 

Dr. Shapshay completed his Otolaryngology residency at the Boston University/Tufts School of Medicine.  He served on the faculty at Boston University/Tufts University School of Medicine from 1977-2005, serving as Chairman of the Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery Department from 1994-2001.  Dr. Shapshay was a member of the staff at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center from 1982-1993, serving as Chairman since 1984.  Most recently he was a Professor of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Medical Center from 2005-2006.  

Dr. Shapshay is past President of both the American BronchoEsophagological Association (ABEA) and the American Laryngological Association (ALA) and just recently completed his Presidency of the Triological Society.
